Ned Harrison Meade, 79, Nickelsville, VA passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his residence.
Ned was born in Scott County, VA on January 19, 1936 to the late Joseph Harrison and Lanora Cynthia Lawson Meade.
In addition to his parents, his grandchild, Clinton Sluss; sisters, Zelma Bevins and Jennie Hayter; brothers, Hansford, Hershel, Ted, Ervin and Ballard Meade preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Valice Farmer Meade, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Brenda Sluss and husband, Roger, Nickelsville, VA; sons, Jerry Meade and wife, Kim, Terry Meade and fiancée, Marsha Winters, and Randy Meade and wife, Vickie, all of Nickelsville and Andy Meade and wife, Tammy, Clinchport, VA; grandchildren, Daniel Sluss, Zachary Meade, Halie Meade, Latoya Meade, Nathan Sluss; and Dakota Meade; great grandchildren, Payton Peak, Brayden Ely, Koletyn Keith, Dalten Keith, Trevin Hall, Keegan Sluss, and Kinley Sluss; sisters; Ruby Dingus, Nickelsville, VA and Berniece Meade, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Henry Meade and Rev. Travis Stapleton officiating. A eulogy will be given by Bob Marshall. Brittany Tomlinson, Bob Marshall, and Robin Stapleton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Tom Stansberry, David Dean, Randall Tomlinson, Jim Culbertson, Tommy Hartsock, and John Hugh Meade will serve as pallbearers. Zachary Davis Meade, Daniel Sluss, Nathan Sluss, David Hale, Jordan Dean, Gavin Meade, Dakota Meade, Mike Hayter, and Fred Meade will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
