Margaret Lou Sluss Meade – Nickelsville, VA
Mrs. Margaret Lou Sluss Meade, 71, Nickelsville, VA passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Margaret was born in Scott County, VA on April 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Ballard and Lois Sweeney Sluss.
She was a member of Nickelsville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law; Cindy Meade (2010); sister, Estelle (Tabby) Richmond; and brothers, Ben Sluss and Oscar Fred Sluss.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jack L. Meade, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Debbie Jo Dockery and husband, Larry (Dickie), Nickelsville, VA; son Gary P.(Meadeo) Meade, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Matthew Dockery and wife, Amber, Mark Dockery, and Meagan J. Meade, all of Nickelsville, VA; sisters, Virginia (Jenny) Campbell, Nickelsville, VA and Brenda Jessee, Dungannon, VA; brothers, Herschel Sluss, Castlewood, VA, Mack Sluss and wife, Mary, Nickelsville, VA, Don Sluss and wife, Lizzie, Dungannon, VA, and Charles Sluss, Dungannon, VA; special friends, Becky Devine and Cathy Criswell, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Barber and the Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Greg and Becky White will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Free Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Mike Campbell, Vance Gilmer, Sid Collins, Conley Gilmer, Dale Nuckles, and Shannon Castle will serve as pallbearers. Joe Meade, Dr. Gregory DeMotts, Johnny Gilmer, and Maynard Jordan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 100 p.m., Thursday to go in procession to the graveside service.
