Gary Paul "Meadeo" Meade, 46, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Wednesday, August 10, 2011.
Born in Sullivan County, TN, he was the son of Jack L Meade and the late Margaret Lou Sluss Meade. He was a graduate of Twin Springs High School and was employed by Double G Trucking.
Meadeo was known all over Scott County, and the surrounding counties for his wit and his smile, and as someone who never met a stranger. If you were fortunate enough to have known him, you knew true friendship. He was larger than life with such a gentle soul whose passing will create a void in many lives.
In addition to his mother who passed away in May 2011, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Meade in 2010.
Meadeo is survived by his daughter, Meagan J. Meade, Nickelsville, VA; father, Jack L. Meade, Nickelsville, VA; sister, Debbie Jo Dockery and husband, Larry (Dickie), Nickelsville, VA; nephews, Matthew Dockery and wife, Amber, Nickelsville, VA and Mark Dockery, Nickelsville, VA; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 the Free Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Dale Nuckels, Jerry Stapleton, Martin Burke, Donnie Broadwater, Shannon Castle, Jeff Castle, Vance Gilmer, and David Dean will serve as pallbearers. Conley Gilmer, Johnny Gilmer, Michael Sanders, David Stapleton, Roger Stapleton, Chris Gilmer, Dennis Stanley, Jackie Moore, and Colton Stapleton will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2011 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Barber officiating.
