Phoebe McNew of Duffield, VA went home to be with her Lord, February 7, 2011. She was born November 16, 1919 to Noah and Alda Chapman. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ryland McNew, her mother, Alda Jessee Chapman and father, Noah Chapman. She is also preceded by an infant daughter, Brenda Mae McNew, her sister, Ida Stanley, brother, Roy Chapman and nephew, Howard McNew.
She is survived by her son Ronnie McNew of Duffield, VA., nieces, Delores Long, Gwenda Smith, Donetta Pierce, Sandra Davis, Imogene Bailey and Dorothy McNew, nephews, Herman Chapman, Willie Chapman, and Harold Stanley. She is also survived by several cousins.
Services for Phoebe will be Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Gate City Funeral Home in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with Funeral service at 7:00 pm. Brad Davis will be officiating. Graveside services for Phoebe will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 at 12:00 pm at the McNew Family Cemetery in Rye Cove, Va. Family will be meeting at the funeral home at 11:00 am to go in procession. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
