Margie Ruth (Lucas) McNew – Big Stoney Creek, VA.
Margie Ruth (Lucas) McNew, 91, Stoney Creek, passed away Sunday June 24th, 2018 at Indian Path Medical Center with her family by her side.
Margie was born in Scott County VA on February 9th, 1927. The daughter of late Roy and Clyde Sweeney Lucas. In addition to her parents, her husband, K.L. “Pete” McNew; her sons Michael, Christopher and infant son; Grandson Clinton McNew; Great-grandson Jeremy McNew; Sisters Joan Perry and Cara Begley; Brothers Stacey and Ernest Lucas preceded her in death.
She was a member of Wood Riverview Baptist Church, Dungannon, VA.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Daughters; Linda Sue Starke, Greensboro, NC, Ann (David) Ward, Temple City, CA, Shelia Gwen Jones, Yuma, VA, and Penny (Mark) Osborne, Dungannon VA, Sons; Jerry (Jeannie) McNew, Big Stoney Creek, Wayne (Teresa) McNew, Coeburn, VA, Wendell (Debbie) McNew, Gate City VA, Steve (Rita) McNew, Big Stoney Creek, Kevin McNew, Big Stoney Creek, Kenneth (Janet) McNew, Mt. Carmel TN, Keith (Christy) McNew, Kingsport TN; and Daughter-in-law; Darline McNew, Big Stoney Creek, VA; 27 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Great-Grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Sisters; Deanna Nickels, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Tommie (Doug) Presley, Gate City, VA, Her extended family; Phyllis McNew Nitschke, Kingsport, TN, Glenn (Rebecca) McNew, Altamont, IL, Eugene (Nancy) McNew, Jonesborough, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday June 28th, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve McNew officiating. Mickey and Nickki Summey will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday June 29th, 2018 at the McNew family Cemetery, Stoney Creek community of Scott County, V.A. with Rev. Steve McNew officiating. Grandsons and Son-in-Law will serve as pallbearers. Family and Friends are asked to meet at the Funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Friday June 29th, 2018 to go in procession or meet at the cemetery for the Graveside Services. Those who wish to bring food and visit the family are asked to take it to the Fort Blackmore Methodist Camp building on Stoney Creek immediately following the graveside service.
The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Sue Darnell; the Scott County Lifesaving crew, staff at Clinch River Health Services, Indian Path Medical Center, and Holston Valley Medical Center for the wonderful care of our mother.
