Kyle Lynis. "Pete" McNew, 91, Stoney Creek, passed away, Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. McNew was born February 24, 1920 in Scott County, VA and was a lifetime resident. He was the son of the late James Issac and Pearlie Dockery McNew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Michael, Christopher, and infant son; grandson, Clinton McNew, granddaughters, Marcella Ann McConnell and Lynn Elizabeth McNew; great grandson, Jeremy McNew; and great great granddaughter, Christina Pritchard.
Surviving is his wife, Margie McNew, Stoney Creek, VA; daughters, Phyllis Nitschke, and husband, William, Kingsport, TN, Linda Sue McNew,Greensboro, NC, Ann Ward and husband, Dave, Temple City, CA, Shelia Gewn Jones, Yuma, VA, and Penny Osborne and husband, Mark, Dungannon, VA; sons, Glenn McNew, and wife, Tootsie, Altamont, IL, Eugene McNew and wife, Nancy, Jonesborough, TN, Jerry McNew and wife, Jeannie, Stoney Creek, VA, Wayne McNew and wife, Teresa, Coeburn, VA, Wendell McNew and wife, Debbie, Gate City, VA, Steve McNew and wife, Rita, Stoney Creek, VA, Kevin McNew, Stoney Creek, VA, Kenneth McNew and wife, Janet, Mount Carmel, TN, Keith McNew and wife, Christy, Ft. Blackmore, VA; 28 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Terry Rhoton, Rev. Steve McNew and Rev. Keith McNew officiating. Pine Grove Harmony will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the McNew Family Cemetery, Stoney Creek community of Scott County, VA. with Steve McNew officiating. Sons will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 to go in procession to the graveside service.
