Howard McNew, 57, entered into rest July 27, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in Sullivan County, TN October 27, 1950 to the late Henry Eskel McNew and Rachel Babb McNew. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Henry Clinton McNew.
Mr. McNew worked as a group leader for 32 years at the Kingsport Foundry. He enjoyed spending time with his mules, Ruby and Pearl, and his dog, Mikie, as well as all of his wagon train friends.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McNew, of the home, Rye Cove, VA; two daughters, Leslie Brooke McNew, Rye Cove, VA, Rachel Eileen McNew, Rye Cove, VA; mother-in-law, Maxie Starnes, Lynn Garden; god daughter, Bambi Ramey, Rye Cove, VA; brothers and sisters of the heart, Rita Perry, Marcella Osborne, Fay Hass, June Cassell, Murill, Sherill, Dearl, Earl, Denny, Benny, Leon, Gary, and Phil Hass.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ray Dockery officiating. Music will be provided by the Hass Family.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the McNew Family Cemetery, Rye Cove, VA. The family will meet at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Bowen, Chris Hall, Mike Owens, Eddie Shultz, Harold Jennings, Junior Jennings.
Honorary pallbearers will be "Brothers of the Heart", Murill Hass, Sherill Hass, Earl Hass, Dearl Hass, Denny Hass, Benny Hass, Leon Hass, Gary Hass and Phil Hass.
