Georgia Carnell Vanzant McMillan, 86, Weber City, VA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Georgia was born on July 24, 1927 in Scott County, VA to the late Burlie and Edna Rhoton Vanzant.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Guy McMillan; son, Jerry Dean McMillan; sister, Ada Woliver; brothers, Rufus and James Vanzant preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Daugherty and husband, Wayne, Kingsport, TN, Faye Williams, Blountville, TN; sons, Edward McMillan and wife, Carolyn, Kingsport, TN, Jimmy McMillan, Carthage, MS; sisters, Judy Hensley, Hiltons, VA, Fannie Russell and husband, Douglas, Hiltons, VA, Shelby Lynch, Kingsport, TN; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; along with several nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her children. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lester Morelock and Rev. Eddie McAmis officiating. Eulogy will be given by Larry Vanzant; Jiggs Willis and Beverly Williams will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:45 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at Mountain Home Cemetery, Johnson City, TN. Eddie Vanzant, Allen Vanzant, Brent Starnes, Shane Hensley, Larry Vanzant and Archie McMillan will serve as pallbearers. Stephen Williams, Corey Williams, Nate Williams and Zeke Williams will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 10:45 a.m.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Wesley Eastridge; the nurses at Baysmont Nursing Home and especially Trudy Chisholm Goodman for their care of Georgia.
