MAGGIE CATHERN HARTGROVE MCGEE – YUMA, VA

Maggie Cathern Hartgrove McGee, 84, of Yuma, passed away July 28, 2011 at her home. Daughter of the late Alfred and Ida Blessing Hartgrove, she was born in Scott County, VA on August 23, 1926.

Mrs. McGee retired from Indian Path Hospital and was a member of the Rebekahs and Prospect United Methodist Church for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. McGee in 2008. She and her husband owned and operated McGee Grocery.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son Wendell Joe McGee in 2002, and a grandson, Joel Scott Alley in 2000; two sisters, Ruth Hensley and Hester Wininger, and three brothers, Lora, Glen and Vernon Hartgrove.

Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and Doyle Alley of Yuma, VA, Linda McGee and Kenneth Bowling of Dublin, VA, Jama and Bill Mason of Radford, VA, and Joy Chapman of Yuma, VA; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Malina McGee of Yuma, VA; two brothers, Ray and Hagan Hartgrove of Yuma, VA; grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law: Andy and Jenny Stewart Glenn, Angie Alley, Brad and Angelia Alley, Clint and Kim McGee, Fred Mason, Katie Mason, Emily White, Chris and Emily Bowling, Kelly and Brian Tawney; great-grandchildren: Nate and Gabe Glenn, Ryne Alley, Clara and Audrey McGee, and Aden White.

Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gate City Funeral Home or anytime at the home. The service will follow at 4 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Allenn Karnes officiating. Clint and Kim McGee will provide music.

Interment will be immediately after the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.

Pallbearers will be David Hartgrove, Billy McGee, Barry Glenn, Andy Glenn, Brad Alley, Clint McGee, Fred Mason, and Chris Bowling.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Wanda Hackney, Connie Lawson, and most especially to Brenda Jones who cared for Mother for over three years.
