Norma Lynn McDavid, 76, Kingsport, TN and formerly of Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Norma was born in Scott County, VA on May 4, 1936 to the late Charlie and Janie Casteel Ison. She was a magistrate for the State of Virginia based in Scott County for many years and also was employed by Food City in Weber City, VA.
She is survived by her son, Jeff McDavid, Kingsport, TN, daughters, Leah Davis and husband, Rusty, Kingsport, TN and Tracy Tarango and husband, Luis, Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Jamie McDavid, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Nicole Valdes, Mirmar, FL, Matthew Hinson, Mirmar, FL, Chaz Davis, Kingsport, TN and Derek Davis, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Kayla Lawson, Mirmar, FL, Alexandria Valdes, Mirmar, FL, Savanah Davis, Kingsport, TN and Jacob Davis, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Delores Moore, Mendota, VA and Carolyn Ison, Kingsport, TN; brother, Kelly Ison and wife, Joan, Henrico, VA; nieces, Dr. J. Deresa Hall, Marion, VA; Jamie M. Broadwater, Gate City, VA, and Ashley Ison, Weber City, VA; nephews, Billy Moore and wife, Jan, Mendota, VA, Kelly Ison and wife, Diane, Kingsport, TN; along with several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Jamie Broadwater will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Jamie McDavid, Rusty Davis, Kevin Dougherty, Billy Moore, Rodney Moore, David Dougherty, and John Moore will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ICU and Hospice for their love and support during this difficult time, to Dr. Steven Adkins and Susie for their many years of special care, and to Dr. Todd Cassel and his staff for their many prayers on behalf of Ms. McDavid.
