Gate City, VA ? Mary Elizabeth McDavid, 82, entered into rest Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Clinchfield, VA January 23, 1925 to the late Midas Jennings and Ema Jennings Honeycutt.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Rose McDavid; two sisters, Juanita Conner and Margaret Kaylor.
Survivors include her husband of almost 61 years, Oakley McDavid; daughters and sons-in-law, Janis Reed, Falls Church, VA, Linda and Charles Hobbs, Kingsport, TN, Patty and Jim Hale, Kingsport, TN; two sons and daughter-in-law, George McDavid, Clinchport, VA, Jack and Stephanie McDavid, Philadelphia, PA; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Charlene Jennings, Kingsport, TN; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Lane and Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. The family will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494 or to the National MS Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all those at the Brian Center (her home for over 5 years) and the staff at Wilcox Hall (third floor) who gave loving care to our loved one.
