Gate City, VA – Joel Roberts McDavid, 56, passed away suddenly at his home December 8, 2009.
He was born in Kingsport, TN March 8, 1953.
Survivors include one son, Will McDavid; daughter, Noel McDavid; one grandson, Cooper; parents, Edwin "Ted" and Velma McDavid, Gate City, VA; brother, Reve and wife, Vanessa; one sister, Alethea Henderson and husband, Jim; two nieces, Laura McDavid and Lisa Mathes; one nephew, Jeff Henderson; four great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at his parents residence. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Will Shewey and Rev. Jeff Tallent officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Benton, Jake Jennings, Robert Clark, Robert Banks, Matt Price and Seth Frazier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Rogers, Petey Pendleton, Sam Bellamy, Barry Helms, Terry Frazier and Dwayne Foster.
Gate City Funeral Home is serving the McDavid family.
