Helen Sue (Lane) McDavid, 96, of Gate City, VA passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Kingsport, TN
Born in Scott County, Virginia on August 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Lucian H. and Ethel (Reed) Lane.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a special aunt.
Helen was a faithful member of Marble Point Church where she served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years.
In addition to her parents, her son-in-law, Leon Bray (June 2018); sister, Selma Louise Taylor-Kerns; and brother, Willard Cecil Lane preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Alana McDavid Roberts and husband, Freddie, Church Hill, TN and Sherry Bray, Kingsport, TN; grandson, Joshua Allen Roberts; along with several nieces and nephews.
Those wishing may visit the family at her residence on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 2-4 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Hedrick officiating. Michelle Jenkins will provide the music.
Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Joshua Allen Roberts, Ricky Taylor, and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to Marble Point Church Building Fund in care of Eula Mae Jennings, 123 Shawnee Drive, Gate City, VA 24251.
