Donald McDavid 61, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. McDavid was born in Scott County, VA to the late John Henry and Lois Hall McDavid.
He was a loving husband, father and papaw. Donald was a member of Durham's Chapel Church. He loved the Lord and talking about the Lord, and pastored several area churches.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa; grandparents, Rev. Tom and Maude Hall; Nannie Stone; and brothers, Tommy and Greg McDavid.
He is survived by his caring and loving wife of 40 years, Ruby McDavid, Duffield, VA; daughter, Christina Presnell and husband, Mark, Gray, TN; son, Brian McDavid and wife, Jessica, Church Hill, TN; grandchildren, Christopher Presnell, Tiffany Presnell, Mercedes McDavid, and Morgan McDavid; brother, James McDavid, Duffield, VA; sisters, Carolyn Kern, Duffield, VA and Patsy Kern, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Rhoton and the Rev. David Kern officiating. Durham's Chapel Quartet and Rita Sue Dockery will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the McNew Cemetery in Stanleytown, VA. Dwayne Kern, Keith Wallen, William Bowen, Mark McDavid, Jacob Maness, and David Kern will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside.
