Velvie N. McConnell, 81, Weber City, VA passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Brian Center, Weber City, VA.
Born January 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Hammonds Necessary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Mullins, nephews David and Dennis Mullins, and great nephew, Ernest Mullins, Jr.
Surviving is her daughter, Mona Lisa Henley and husband, Rex, Johnson City, TN, sons, Roger Lee McConnell and wife, Leisha, Mount Carmel, TN and Reggie Lynn McConnell and wife, Vicki, Kingsport, TN, grandchildren, Larissa Elaine Way, Surgoinsville, TN and Zachary Isaac Collier, Mount Carmel, TN, Kim Lovell and Jeremy Roberts, several great grandchildren, sister, Rena Lane and husband, Edward, Kingsport, TN, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at her residence, 371 Church Street, Weber City, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. J.W. Depew officiating.
Burial will follow in Clinchport, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to convey their special thanks to Carol McConnell, Ronda Elam, Missy Fletcher and all of the staff at the Brian Center, and to Dr. Mishkin, Dr. Baumrucker and the ICU staff at Holston Valley Medical Center.
