Reba Smith McConnell, 91, Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her family, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Asbury Place, Kingsport, TN.
Mrs. McConnell was born in Scott County (Purchase Ridge community), VA on December 21, 1921, where she lived most of her life. She attended Purchase Church for many years.
In addition to her parents Oliver W. and Maudella Smith, her husband, Gladdie M. McConnell; and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianna Williams and husband, Joe, Duffield, VA, Patsy Leach and husband Bruce, Church Hill, TN; grandsons, Steven Williams, Bristol, TN, Brent Leach, and Michael Leach and wife, Mary, Church Hill, TN; sister, Ethel Jones and husband, Leonard, Duffield, VA.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Dianna Williams. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Garry Hood. The Lee Smith Singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Smith Family Cemetery, Pattonsville, VA (Purchase Ridge community). Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Madison House and the staff at Asbury Place (especially Brooke, Raegan, and Pam) for their loving care of our mom and granny.
