Madeline Lane McConnell, 78, Weber City, VA entered into rest, Monday, September 07, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Scott County, VA on May 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Edgar Lane and Edna Calhoun Lane McConnell, and was the granddaughter of the late Charlie and Maudie Bell Calhoun, who raised her.
She was a member of Community Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Jones, Patsy Edwards, and an infant sister, Betty Lou Lane.
Surviving are her daughter, Belinda Poland, Harrisonburg, VA; sons, Eddie McConnell and wife, Judy, Weber City, VA and Barry McConnell and wife, Cathy, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Sara Beth Hodges and husband, Andy, Johnson City, TN, Matthew Poland and fiancée, Hayley Henderson, Salem, VA, Seth McConnell and wife, Sarah, Weber City, VA, Melissa Heatwole and husband, Dave, Timberville, VA, and J.T. McConnell, Gate City, VA; one great grandchild, Bransen Heatwole, Timberville, VA; father of her children, W.E. "Darnell" McConnell, Weber City, VA; a brother, Bruce Lane, GA; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Betty Wallen and family, Hubert and Zelma Davis, and Billie McConnell.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. John Sheppard officiating. Her daughter-in-law, Judy McConnell will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
