H.J. “Jay” McConnell, 73, Midway, VA passed away, Saturday. July 13, 2019 at Lonesome Pine Hospital.
Jay was born in Scott County, VA on September 10, 1945, and was the son of the late Robert Henry and Maxie (Carrico) McConnell.
In addition to his parents, his brothers-in-law, Roger Kilgore and Lawton McConnell preceded him in death.
Jay is survived by his son, Kelly McConnell, Gate City, VA; sisters, Shelby McConnell Kilgore, Nickelsville, VA and Evaline McConnell, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lennis France officiating. Ricky Burke will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at The McConnell Cemetery on Rockland View Road, Gate City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
