Evelyn Eileen McConnell, 76, entered into rest September 19, 2009 at her residence.
Born in Scott County, VA on October 2, 1932 to the late Steve Author Elliott and Lucy Gilkey Elliott.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters; Clarice Clark, Nina Quillen and Lillian Elliott. Also her brothers; Howard, Fred and Charles Elliott.
Surviving are her sons; Mike McConnell and wife, Judy of Midway, VA., William McConnell and wife, Donna of Kingsport, TN. Sister; Lucille Carico of Gate City, VA. Brother; Don Elliott and wife, Norma of Longwood, FL. Grandchildren; Dale, Emily, Victoria and Kelly McConnell. And a sister-in-law; Leoria Elliott of Gate City, VA. Along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00p.m.in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Johnny Kendrick and Pastor Dan Peterson officiating. The Gethsemane Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Elliott Cemetery in the Midway community. Dale McConnell, Kelly McConnell, Roger Carico, Jim Smith, Jeff Quillen and Matthew Taylor will serve as pallbearers. Alvin Clark, Gene McConnell, Gray Pierson and H.L. McConnell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.
