Mr. McConnell was born June 28, 1935 in Scott County VA, A son the late Palmer and Janie Quillen McConnell. He was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Wilmoth.
Mr. McConnell is survived by his wife Clara McConnell, Blountville, TN; daughter, Reba Smith and husband, Richard, Hiltons, VA; sons, Ronnie McConnell and wife, Trinia, Kingsport, TN, David McConnell and wife, Brenda, Kingsport, TN and Steve McConnell and wife, Wendy, Duffield, VA; sister, Anna Kay (Tete) and husband, Sonny, Charlotte, NC; brother, Burdette McConnell and wife, Juanita, Hiltons, VA; grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Crystal Smith, Kathleen Cherie ( K.C.) McConnell, Tucker McConnell, Riley McConnell and Bonnie McConnell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McConnell's wishes were to be cremated.
The family will hold a private service at the residence at a later date.
