Kingsport, TN ? Ruby Catherine Roller McClellan, 96, entered into rest Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at her residence.
She was born in Sullivan County, TN to the late Adam Henry Roller and Ida Honor Barnes. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Gladstone McClellan; daughter, Doris Jean McClellan; son, Wallace Gladstone McClellan; sisters, Edith Roller, Irene R. Mills, Velma Louise Roller Cash and one brother, John Wesley Roller.
She was a former member of the Centenary United Methodist Church for 70 years until they came together as a whole with Wheelers United Methodist Church.
Ruby was a loving mother and granny who enjoyed the outdoors. She worked the garden, her flowers and enjoyed quilting and canning. Ruby always put her children and family first.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Wayne Garner, Maryville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Barbara McClellan, Marion, VA; grandchildren, Marne Drinnon and Tony, Patrick McClellan and Robin, Andrea Andrews and Greg, Miranda McDavid and Tim, Lisa Hall and Herb, Cynthia Bales and Randy, Amy Whitehead and Mark, Michael McClellan and Robin, Greg McClellan and Juliet, Adam McClellan; great grandchildren, Breanna and Lorin McDavid, Madison and Jacob Hall, Nicia and Kerra Johnson, Katie and Hannah Messer, Eric Whitehead, Andrew, Gabby and Maya McClellan, Stone and Allie Drinnon, Caleb and Clohe McClellan, James Andrews and Eliza McClellan; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Stuart Albee officiating. Music will be provided by Salley's Chapel Quartet.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
