Jerrie McClellan – Weber City, VA
Betty Jeraline "Jerrie" McClellan of Weber City, VA entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 17, 2011 at home with her family by her side.
She was born April 10, 1933 to James Howard Davidson and Elva Green Davidson Ward in Kingsport, TN.
Jerrie was a long time member of Holston View United Methodist Church and lately had been attending Salem United Methodist Church.
Jerrie and her husband, Charles "Charlie Bear" owned and operated the Weber City Shell Station for several years after working for the Kingsport Press.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 53 years, Charles, in September 2007.
Also preceding her in death was her father in May 1946 and her mother in July 1998; her step-father, Garnett Ward; two precious nephews, Mike "Chub" Collins and Ricky Dale Collins, brothers-in-law, Bruce Richardson and Archie Smith; and sister-in-law, Glenda Davidson.
Surviving to miss her are her sisters, Mildred Smith and Imogene (Howard) Collins of Kingsport, Nevilla (Sam) Morrell of Blountville, Jewel Richardson of Jonesborough and her brother, Wayne (Linda) Davidson of Burleson, TX; step-sister, Mildred Harkleroad of Kingsport, and step-brother, Jim H.(Helen) Ward of Bristol, VA.
Jerrie will be missed by a very special niece, Danielle (Tony) Mays, who had lovingly cared for her. Her god daughter, Gina (Stanley) Smith, along with several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews
She is also survived by some wonderful friends, Sid and Sondra Rhoton and their children, Cindy and Seth and close friend, Hazel Alley and two little furry friends, Tinkerbell and Sophie
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA, where she will be buried beside her husband, Charles, with Pastor Will Shewey officiating. Special music will be provided by Bryon Fogleman. Tony Mays, Landon Gray, George Gray, Jr. Sid Rhoton, Seth Rhoton, Dane McClellan, Colin Smith and Bryan Hulse will serve as pallbearers. Sam Morrell, Wayne Davidson, Howard Collins, Jim Mays and Warner Brickey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, Jerrie requested that memorials be made to the building fund of Salem United Methodist Church, 230 Boozy Creek, Blountville, TN 37617.
The family extends a heart-felt thank you to Wellmont Hospice, especially the nurses who visited her at home, and to HMG doctors, Adkins, Nakhoul, Coen, and Lovelace and their staff.
