Mary McCarty
Dungannon, VA | August 30, 2011

She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ~ Proverbs 3:15, 17
Mary McCarty – Dungannon, VA
Mary McCarty of Dungannon went to heaven on her 65th birthday, August 30, 2011.
She was the only child of Elsie Page Greear and the late Ray Greear. She was a very kind, unselfish, and giving person who devoted her life to her children. Although she was a quiet and reserved lady, she took great joy in letting it be known that her children were the pride of her life.
She was a dedicated teacher at Dungannon School in Scott County for 38 years. She touched the lives of many children not only academically but also by modeling and stressing good life values.
She is survived by her mother, Elsie Greear and the light of her life: her children, Pam Stidham and husband, Jimbo, Angel Hughes and husband, Joseph, Tashina McCarty, and Jeremy McCarty and wife, Lyncoln; she had four precious grandchildren, Takoda Martin, Aneshia Stidham, Connor Hughes, and Kaylee Hughes; and one great grandchild, Arabella Gillenwater.
A private graveside service will be conducted Friday, September 2, 2011. A Tribute to Life service for Mary will be conducted at the Dungannon Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Friday, September 2, 2011 from 1-3 p.m., conducted by Dr. Todd Cassell and the Rev. Larry Beavers.
The family wishes to thank her special friends, Trudy Summers and Dr. Todd Cassell, Jean Dooley, Teresa Culbertson, former co-workers and her many wonderful family and friends throughout her life.
