R. Barry McCarley-Ft. Blackmore, VA
R. Barry McCarley, 67, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at his residence.
Barry was a Free Mason for 40 years and a member of Catlett Lodge #35, AF&AM, Gate City, VA. He was also UMWA member for 30 years. After serving with the UMWA, he moved to the IBEW where he worked until he retired in 2015.
Barry loved farming and his John Deere but closest to his heart were his family especially his two grandsons.
He was born in Sullivan Co., TN on July 13, 1950 to late L.C. (Mac) and Twila Blandon (Barry) McCarley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy L. McCarley, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Va; daughter, Ashley Bright and husband, Japeth, Hiltons, VA; grandchildren, Keegan and Cohen Bright; sister, Ellen Whitman and husband, Ray, Elizabethton, TN; brother, Cliff McCarley, Vancouver, WA; niece, Adrienne Depew; nephew, Brandon Williams; along with several other nieces and nephews.
There will be a Masonic graveside services at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Craft Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA conducted by Catlett Lodge #35, AF&AM, Gate City, VA with Pastor Jason Ratliff officiating. Family is asking to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m.
It was the wishes of Barry to be cremated.
