Frankie Gene Mays, 73, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Mays was born in Dickenson County, VA on February 16, 1937, a son of the late Fred McKinley and Susie Edna Ann Watson Mays.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lois Mays, and brothers, Johnny and Fred Mays.
Surviving are his children; daughters, Edna Dingeldein and husband, Brent, Cumberland, VA, Patricia Spann and husband, Clay, Whiteville, NC, and Louise Ritenour and husband, David, Kingsport, TN; son, Terry Mays and wife, Bureda, Castlewood, VA; grandchildren, Dewayne Dingeldein and wife, Janna, Wesley Dingeldein and wife, Katherine, Seth Mays, Patrick Dean, Josh, Paul, Andrew, and Daniel Spann, James Bledsoe, and Jamie Ritenour; sisters, Hattie D. Eller, Mount Carmel, TN and Birdie Sue Puckett, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Roy O. Mays, Bristol, VA and Charlie C. Mays, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Tommy Holder officiating. Tim Smith and Nancy Scarberry will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, VA.
Louise Ritenour, James Bledsoe, Seth Mays, Dewayne Dingeldein, Wesley Dingeldein, Patrick Dean, Tim Smith, David Ritenour, Paul Spann, Andrew, Spann, and Daniel Spann will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
