Mrs. Dorothy M. Maxfield, 88, Nickelsville, VA went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, TN.
Mrs. Maxfield was born in Russell County, VA on April 2, 1922 to the late Joseph Samuel Rubin Scott Lell and Rachel Hicks Lell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Maxfield, a son, Roy R. Maxfield, sisters, Lakie E. Vicars and Kansada Lell and brothers, Gilmer, Everett and Paris Lell. Mrs. Maxfield was a member of the Nickelsville First Baptist Church.
Survivors are her daughters, Nancy C. Via and husband, Larry, Abingdon, VA and Sandra L. Maxfield, Abingdon, VA, a son, Michael D. Maxfield and his wife, Beth, Whitley City, KY, a sister, Bertha Dotson, Lebanon, OH, and a brother, Joseph Lell, Jr., Castlewood, VA; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11: 00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Danny Felty officiating.
Entombment services will follow the service at the Russell Memorial Cemetery Ketron Memorial Gardens, Lebanon, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
