Mr. Franklin Delano Mathisen, 74, Kingsport, TN, and formerly of Rogersville, TN passed away, Friday, October 3, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Mathisen was born in Holiday, North Dakota on January 20, 1934, the son of the late Morris Mathisen and Fern Mary Pane. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired paper carrier for the Kingsport Times News and a member of the Apostolic Revival Center. He also attended the Jennings Mission Church of Jesus Christ in Gate City, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Mathinsen, Kingsport, TN, sisters; Eunice Widner and husband, Leo, and Orinne Cody and husband, Don, brother; Harold Mathisen and wife, Maria, along with several nieces and nephews and a special army buddy, Ed Tipton and many dear friends at Jennings Mission.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. ? 12 p.m. p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Leonard Dixon and the Rev. Charles Thacker officiating. Apostolic Revival Center will provide the music.

Burial will follow the service as the V.A. Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 of Kingsport, TN and Post #265 of Gate City, VA along with members of the Tennessee Army National Guard Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
