Bobby Mathews – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Bobby Lewis Mathews, 67, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Bobby was born in Crossett, Arkansas to Lewis Larkin Mathews and the late Olive Marie Cash Mathews. He was veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Auto Tech.
In addition to his mother, his sister, Brenda Joyce Mathews preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Joyce Lane Mathews, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughter, Nevamarie Mathews, Cleveland, OH; father, Lewis Larkin Mathews, Crossett, AK; friend who was like a son, James Riley and wife, Susie, Mantua, OH; sister, Louise Brenda Mathews Hollis and husband, Benji, Crossett, AK; brother, Michael Lewis Mathews and wife, Bonnie, Crossett, AK; nieces, Whitney Mathews, Sherry Turk and husband, Chris, Heidde Lehnert and husband, Gary, Tabitha Tuck and husband, Travis; great nieces, Angel Hernandez and husband, Rafa, Carmela Sanchez-Barcellona, and Darla ; great great nieces, Gloria Rose, Jasmine, and Nyla; great nephews, Brayden, Christopher, Brian, Justin, and Michael Anthony Larson and wife, Amanda; great great nephew, Miguel; brother-in-law, Rudy Hernandez; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Wood.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Rick Quillen officiating. Music will be provided by Who So Ever Will.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Cox Banner Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA by the American Legion Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. James Riley, Mike Mathews, David Walker, Freddie Carter, John Brickey, Jr., Chris Turk, Rafa Hernandez, Donnie Saul, Josh Williams, and Bobby Williams wiill serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
