Mary Kathleen Cordle

Mary Kathleen Cordle passed away peacefully with a smile on her face as her family sung amazing grace to her on April 17, 2024, at the age of 83.

Kat is preceded in death by her parent’s “Poppy” Henry Salyers and “Maw” Lilian Salyers, her husband, Melvin Cordle, 2 children, Michael, and Susie; granddaughter, Megan Peak; and all of her brothers and sisters.  

She will be greatly missed by all of her children, Rick Cordle, Ann Peak and husband, Junior, Mary Jane Hunt, Margaret Cordle, and Kay Marshall; sons by choice, Walter Taylor, and Larry Brickey; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great- great grandchildren; true friends and family Danny Darnell, Charlie Brown, Rachel, and Karen. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Dungannon Freewill Baptist Church. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., with Walter Taylor, Danny Darnell, and Justin Strong officiating. Walter Taylor and Danny Darnell will provide the music. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Salyer Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:15a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service. 

Derek Huss, Ryan Marshall, Aaron Castle, Gunner Blevins, Glenn Nickels, Jeff Salyers, Gerald Salyers, Little Johnny Castle, and “Bullet Head” Tim will serve as pallbearers. Larry Brickey will serve as an honorary pallbearer. 

We would like to thank the staff of Wilcox Hall for the wonderful care they gave to our mother and grandmother during the last days of her life.
