Robert Lilburn Marshall, 69, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Marshall was born in Nickelsville, VA March 6, 1943 to the late James Clyde and Victoria Cox Marshall. He was retired from the Kingsport Press.

In addition to his parents, his son, Gregory Marshall preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Wanda Dingus Marshall, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Sheila Marshall McManus and husband, James, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Joseph McManus, Danielle McManus, and Robert McManus; sisters, Ruth Marshall Slover and husband, James, Morristown, TN and Louise Marshall Salyer and husband, Harold, Nickelsville, VA; brother, Richard Marshall and wife, Polly, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Friends of the Marshall family will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Point Truth Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Perry Salyer, Gil Salyer, Bob Travis, Edward Holton, Allen Vicars, Jim McManus, Joe McManus, John Briscoe, and Mark McCarty will serve as pallbearers. Ralph Campbell, Gary Addington, Martin Burke, and Garnette Vicars will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
