Margaret Ethel B. Marsh, 81, of Duffield, VA left this mortal life on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 8:14 p.m. to go to the other side of the veil.
She was born to William Davis Brotherton and Pheobe Katherine England on June 28, 1931 in Kingsport, TN.
Margaret was much beloved by her posterity. Her nickname was Smiley and she was a member of the New Melody Baptist Church in Duffield, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold O. Marsh and beloved grandson Eric Henry Lee Talbott. She was also predeceased by four brothers, James Paul Brotherton, John Harim (Homer) Brotherton, Howard Franklin Brotherton, and Roy Tyler Brotherton; and two sisters Hattie May Brotherton, and Sallie Byrd Brotherton.
Mrs. Marsh's surviving siblings are Curtis William Van Brotherton, Thomas Jesse (T.J.) Brotherton, Rhuhama B. Taggart, and Martha Gerleen B. Christian; with an honorable mention of her dear friends Lucille Brotherton and Barbara Powers as well as special niece Barbara Cleo Spears.
She is survived by her five children, Linda Katherine T. Bergeron, Wilma Margaret T. Hudson, William Ellsworth Talbott, Jr., John Edward (Jet) Talbott, and Joan Marie T. Otterbine; grandchildren, Margaret Faith Carberry, Christina Suzette Carr Bussy, Shannon Dale Carr, Melissa Martin, Sarah Toneylee Arminda Hudson, and Kayla Paige Fernandes; great grandchildren, Katherine Gail Moore, Tanner Gage Carr, Shalyn Marie Whitaker, Dylan Anthony Whitaker, and Devon Brandon Qualls; great great grandchildren, Mason Alan Glen and Madison Danielle Moore.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m., to be conducted by Reverend Kenneth Neeley.
Graveside services will follow at the Brotherton Family Cemetery in England Valley in Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
