Marie Tressa (Tassey) Ross, 80,while admitted to The Wexford House in Kingsport, Tennessee, slipped free of her earthly bonds to enter her heavenly home, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Marie was born in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, July 14, 1944, to the late William Valentine Tassey, Jr. and Marie (Dunkley) Tassey.

Marie came to Gate City in 2007 with her husband, Tim, upon their retirement and after approximately 38 years living in the Los Angeles suburb of Montrose, California. She dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to her family. Prior to retirement, she worked as a banker for Security Pacific Bank and then Bank of America upon their merger. After leaving the bank, she worked for Six Flags Magic Mountain for approximately 10 years leading up to her retirement. Post retirement she dedicated her time to caring for her husband, volunteering in her church prayer group and serving as a Sunday School Teacher. Additionally she became certified and served as a Hospice volunteer bringing comfort to those nearing their life’s end.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 4 half-brothers: William V. Tassey III, David, James and Paul; and by her husband of 48 years, Timothy Alan Ross.

She is survived by 2 brothers: William G. Tassey and Raymond Tassey; 4 children: Katrina, Bryan, Jonathan and Peter; 5 grandchildren: Kristina Kelehan, David Kelehan, Elizabeth Ross, Christopher Ross and Kenneth Ross; 2 great-grandchildren: Xionna Kelehan and Áine Ross; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45p.m., for the graveside service.
