Mares Elvin Butler, 45, Duffield, VA, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at his residence.

Mares was born on August 28, 1977, in Scott County, VA, to the late Hobert Mares Butler and Alphie Marie Massengill Butler.

Along with his parents, his sister, Lena Butler, sister-in-law, Polly Butler, and brother, Alfred Butler preceded him in death.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his sisters Reda Falin (Robert), Cathy Butler, Lisa Falin (Mark), and Loreda Kerns (Junior); brothers, Alvin Butler (Joreta), Rev. Gennis Butler, and Calvin Butler; and several great nieces and nephews.

Mares’ wishes were to be cremated; a celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
