Johnny Milburn Mann, 87, Gate City, VA passed away, Monday, May 23, 2022, at his residence.
Johnny was born in Scott County, VA on October 8, 1934, and was the son of the late Arless and Thelma (Blair) Mann.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the City of Kingsport.
In addition to his parents, his first wife, Pauline (Crawford) Mann, second wife, Freida (Wise) Mann, and sister, Shirley Starnes preceded him in death.
Johnny is survived by his nephews, Gordon (Catherine) Starnes, Arlington, VA, Adam Lana Oswald) Starnes, Arnold, MD, and Carter Starnes, Gate City, VA, and special friends and caregivers, Cathy Mullins, Gate City, VA, and Matthew and Remona Dockery, Gate City, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Clayton Williams and Rev. Gene Stallard officiating. Pine Grove Harmony will provide the music.
Military Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team.
Carter Starnes, Matthew Dockery, Tucker Hillman, Riley Hillman, and Jimmy Hillman will serve as pallbearers. Gordon Starnes and Adam Starnes will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
