Elmer Joe Maness, 66, Fairview, VA passed away, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ER of an apparent heart attack.
Joe was born in Scott County, VA on January 18, 1949; a son of the late Dewey and Eliza Burke Maness. He was a devoted husband, Dad, Papaw, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Guy and Jim Maness; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Griffin; and nephew, Shannon Maness preceded him in death.
Surviving is the love of his life, his wife, Geraldine Maness; daughters, Mary Pam Barnett, and Betty Jo Wells; grandchildren, Virgil (Zoomy) Wells and wife, Casey, Kayla Senior and husband, Matt, and Cheyenne Barnett; great grandchildren, Abigail and Nathaniel Wells and Joseph and Ciara Senior; brother, Billy Maness and wife, Ada; sister, Alma Jean Truelove; mother-in-law, Magdaline Delph; special brothers-in-law, Larry Delph, Dennis Delph, and Dee Griffin; along with many special nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Chris Fields officiating. Gina Gillenwater will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Maness Cemetery, Fairview, VA. Jacob Maness, Steven Maness, Corey Maness, Jose Gonzales, Jason Delph, and Dewayne Delph will serve as pallbearers. Jamie Trapp, Joey Ramey, Dan Seals and Junior Wells will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
