Lula Mae Starnes, 87, Fort Blackmore, VA, passed away, Thursday, December 5, 2024, at her residence.
Lula was born in Scott County, VA, on March 11, 1937, to the late Mont Kenneth Hillman and Clarice (Hillman) Hillman.
In addition to her parents, her son, Michael Starnes; sister, June Quillen; brothers, Winfield Hillman, James Hillman, and Harold Hillman; and granddaughter, Hailee Pope preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Elmer Ray Starnes; daughters, Susie Starnes, and Karen Pope; sister, Margie Nunley; brothers, Kenneth, Loyd, Glenn (Debbie), and W. J. Hillman; grandchildren, Jonathan Pope, Ryan (Mikkyah) Pope, Eric (Courtney) Pope; great grandchildren, Caydence Lowery, Aubree Pope, Jacob Pope, Elijah Murphy, Hayden Frazier, Devon Pope, Kylee Pope, Hunter Pope, Carson Pope, Xyler Pope; and fur baby, Sophia.
The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m., Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at the Carter Cemetery, in the Stoney Creek area.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
