Mazzy Mozella (Aunt Duck) Lucas, 79, passed away, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mozella was born in Smythe County, VA on December 17, 1934, a daughter of the late Elmer and Bonnie Glass Haga.
She had a great love for her family and enjoyed quilting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Lonnie Eugene Lucas; a grandson; one sister, and three brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Fuller and husband, Stoney, Nickelsville, VA, Elizabeth Kilgore and husband, Doug, Nickelsville, VA, Deborah Taylor and husband, Frank, Nickelsville, VA, Melissa Bryant and husband, Gary, Dungannon, VA, and Marie Lyons, Elizabethton, TN; sons, Don Lucas and wife, Joyce, Dungannon, VA, Lonnie Lucas and wife, Allison, Dungannon, VA, and Jeff Lucas and wife, Janice, Nickelsville, VA; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Broadwater, Nickelsville, VA, Martha Miller, Waco, TX, and Edna Million, Jacksonville, FL; brother, Frank Haga, Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Winnie Lucas, Dungannon, VA; brother-in-law, William Glen Culbertson, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins and Rev. Lilburn Thornburg officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Lucas Family Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Jonathan Lyons, Jason Lyons, Justin Lucas, Kevin Lucas, Billy Culbertson, Joey Castle, John Smith, and Michael Dotson will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
