Lois Jean Lucas, 78, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Friday, December 15, 2017 at Wexford House, Kingsport, TN.
Lois was born in Hueysville, KY on November 4, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Grover and Goldie Shepherd.
In addition to her parents, her brothers, Charles Shepherd, Otis Shepherd, Hershal Shepherd, and Willie Shepherd preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Jarvie Lucas, Nickelsville, VA; daughters, Geneva Butler, Gate City, VA, Judy Sumner, Church Hill, TN, Pam Dean and husband, Garry, Nickelsville, VA; Sherry Burton, Nickelsville, VA, and Joy Hubbard and husband, David, Nickelsville, VA; sons, Ben Lucas and wife, Betty, Nickelsville, and Grover Lynn Lucas, Nickelsville, VA; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Pattie Ritchie and husband, Vernon, Stroh, IN, and Josie Prater, Martin, KY; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Scott Fields officiating. Steve and Flo Minton, and Ryan Stapleton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
