Reverend Lonnie Stevie Berry, 61, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2025, surrounded by all his children while singing “What A Day That Will Be.”

Lonnie was born in Kingsport, TN on April 11, 1963, and was the son of the late William Joe Berry and Ethel (Berry) Harris.

He was called by the Lord to preach in the early 90’s. During his ministry he touched many lives and enjoyed teaching the word of God.

Lonnie was a very talented Brick Mason for over 40 years, and upon retiring from Masonry he was a truck driver for 12 years.

In addition to his parents, his grandson, Mason Berry and brother, Gary Berry preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Berry, stepdad, Rev. James Harris, children, Jennifer (Derrick) Belanger, Jason Berry, Crystal Romine, Brian (Melinda) Berry, Brandy (Chris) Graham, Jessica Berry, mother of his children, Brenda Berry (George Hobbs, III), several step kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, and a great grandson.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jimmy Darnell Rev. William Berry officiating. The Berry Family will provide music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Adams Cemetery, Duffield, VA.

Jason Berry, Brian Berry, Jayden Berry, Brandon Berry, Robert Goode, James Roberts, Payton Berry, Logan Belanger, and Ethan Belanger will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
