Patrick Lynn Loggans – Gate City, VA
Patrick Lynn Loggans, 65, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, August 3, 2018 at his residence.
Patrick was born in Sullivan County, TN on October 13, 1952 and was the son of the late Marvin Lynn Loggans, and Charlotte Ann Quillen Loggans.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years Lisa Quillen Loggans; daughter, Rebecca McKinley Loggans; son, Patrick Scott Loggans (Samantha); brother, Tony Loggans; uncle, Terry Loggans (Connie); grandchildren Grant Peter Loggans, Brady Sexton, Etta Sexton; Special friends and caregivers Gary and Laurie Christian, and Tommy and Rhonda McCloud.
Pat retired as county administrator for Scott County in 1996. He was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church where he played in the Praise Band. He was a Gideon sharing his personal testimony with other churches in the Tri City area.
Pat is best known for being the Quarterback for the Gate City High School Blue Devils where he led the team to the schools first State Championship in 1970. Through his love of Gate City sports, he volunteered to be the Athletic Trainer for the school for 35 years. His knowledge of sports medicine had Pat appointed to the Governors Board of Sports Medicine and the Regional Award of Merit from the VHSL.
Pat’s love of music, dedication to youth in sports and his faith in God, made him an inspiration to all young men and women and those who knew him. Pat will forever be a “Gate City Blue Devil.”
A Celebration of life service will be held at Gate City United Methodist Church at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 7, 2018. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall for those who would like to visit with the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Gate City United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
