Thomas Russell Leitch, 86, Duffield, VA passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Tom was born Albermarle County, VA on November 4, 1924, and was the son of the late Russell and Nellie Leitch.

Tom retired from the U.S. Army and National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland as a truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Leitch, and daughter, Doreen Leitch.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Leitch, Duffield, VA; stepdaughters, Debra Johnson, Gate City, VA, and Sharon Shipley, Baltimore, MD; stepsons, Steven Eck, Blountville, TN, and Richard Murray, Kingsport, TN; step-grandchildren, Edward, Shelley, Jennifer, Brittany, Stephanie, and Stacey; nine step-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Juanita Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Pastor Will Shewey officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted following the service at the Jennings Family Cemetery in Duffield. Military Graveside Rites will be performed by American Legion Hammond Post #3. Edward Goodwin, Adam Cradic, Steven Eck, Shelley Goodwin, Billy Joe Bowen, and Cecil Bowen will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made to ASPCA.
