Edward Glen "Todd" Lawson, 83, Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Kingston Center, Duffield, VA after a long battle with cancer.
Todd was born in Scott County, VA on November 23, 1927, the son of the late James Ezra and Ollie Hill Lawson.
In addition to his parents his sisters, Edith Blevins and Helen Quillin; brothers, Howard Lawson and Bill Lawson, and nephew, Robert James Lawson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brothers, Otis Lawson and wife, Mima, Gate City, VA and James (Babe) Lawson and wife, Sue, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sisters, Ina Lawson and husband, Lucian, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Laura Muse, Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Myrtle Lawson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister and brother-in-law, Ina and Lucian Lawson. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Preacher Denny Hass and Rev. Jackie Frazier officiating. Durham's Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Lawson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Nephews, Jerry Lawson, Michael Lawson, Gary Hass, Keith Begley, Jeff Lawson, David Lawson, Charles (Chuckie) Perry, and Anthony Lawson will serve as pallbearers. Greg Lawson, Junior Blevins, Junior Lawson, Don Gillenwater, Bill Perry and Lucian Lawson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. for the graveside service.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kingston Center for their special loving care given to Todd and to his special care giver, Wilma Ball.
