Duffield, VA – Raymond E. Lawson, Sr., 94, entered into rest Monday, December 28, 2009 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Madge Bray Lawson.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Carson, William, Gerald, James and Duard Lawson.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Lawson, Duffield, VA; daughter, Glenda Blanton and husband, Ronald, Kingsport, TN; three sons, Raymond Eugene Lawson, Sr., Gate City, VA, Ronnie Lawson and wife, Loretta, Kingsport, TN, and Kent Lawson, Duffield, VA; sister, Fleeta Pease, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Bart Blanton, Kingsport, TN, Richard Blanton, Kingsport, TN, and Kay Lawson, Atlanta, GA; great grandson, Connor Blanton, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joel Brister officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 1, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Scott County Rescue Squad.
