Lucian Lawson, 87, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at home.
Lucian was born in Scott County, VA on March 29, 1930 and was the son of the late Ira and Lula (Laney) Lawson.
Lucian loved being with his family and friends. He also loved telling stories and reminiscing with everyone.
In addition to his parents, his 4 sisters; 5 brothers; and two great-grandsons, Hayden and Austin Perry preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Ina M. Lawson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughters, Linda Hass and husband, Gary, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Tresea Lytle and fiancé, Jeff Neal, Kingsport, TN, and Carolyn Davis and husband, Mike, Indiana; son, Jerry and wife, D’Lynn Lawson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; along with several nieces, and nephews including one special nephew, Henry Lawson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p. m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wayne Stallard officiating. James McConnell and Family will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Lawson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 of Kingsport, TN and Post #265 of Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Guard. Sons-in laws and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Babe Lawson and Bill Dorton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. for the graveside service.
