Lakie Helen Lawson, age 72, of Fort Blackmore, VA, passed away May 12, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Scot County, VA. She retired from Midway Market. She attended Pendleton’s Chapel Church of Fort Blackmore.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Cordia and Bob Dingus. Five brothers Charlie, Troy, Roy, Emmitt, and Orbin Dingus. Two sisters Mary Carter and Rosa Vickers. In-laws Pat and Ann Lawson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Odell Lawson, of the home. Daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Randy Lark, Yuma, VA. Son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Eliza Lawson, Fort Blackmore, VA. Two granddaughters, Grace and Abby. Three grandsons, Logan, Ryan, and Noah. Special brother Jim (Peggy) Dingus, Fort Blackmore, VA, John (Bernice) Dingus, Kingsport, TN, Bill (Kathy) Dingus, Dungannon, VA, special sister Bobbie Jo (Russell) Sanders, Fort Blackmore, VA, Kate Chase of Kingsport, TN, Nellie Watson, Fort Blackmore, VA, Sue (Charles) Puckett, Church Hill, TN, Faye (James) Akers, Hill Station, VA. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends.
Visitation will be held at Pendleton Chapel Church on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Services will be conducted on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Dingus Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, VA.
Music will be provided by Chris Holder.
Roger Lawson, Danny Watson, Tony Dingus, James Lawson, Benny Beavers, Blake Dingus, Robert Sanders, Richard Sanders, and Jeff Watson will serve as pallbearers. Phillip Dingus, C. H. Presley, Jim Cox, Bill Frazier, Mack Pierson, Stanford Presley and Douglas Presley will serve as Honorary Pallbearers will be.
The family wants to give a special thanks to her caretakers Eliza, Abby, Connie, and Hospice Care.
