Mr. Johnny Everson Lawson, 63, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Lawson was born in Scott County, VA on March 11, 1949 to the late Andy Horton and Ival Culbertson Lawson.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a foreman with Blalock Construction.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Patsy Lawson and brother, Luther Paul Lawson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda D. Lawson, Greeneville, TN; son, Johnny E. Lawson, Jr., Greeneville, TN; sisters, Ava Juanita Lawson, Gate City, VA and Helen Brummett and husband, Robert, Gate City, VA; brothers, Andy H. Lawson, Jr., and wife, Ida, Dungannon, VA and Jimmy Earl Lawson and wife, Becky, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Roger Herron and Rev. Bruce Brewer. The Moneyhuns will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be held at the Corder Cemetery in Dungannon, VA at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2012 conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
