Larry Edward Calhoun, Gray, TN

Larry Edward Calhoun, 75, Gray, TN, went to be with his heavenly Father Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. 

Larry was born on May 14, 1947, to the late Helen Mae Lane and Calvin Coolidge Calhoun. 

Larry was a member, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Song Leader for Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church. 

Along with his parents, his brother, Mark Calhoun preceded him in death. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Calhoun; daughter, Tracy Leigh (Calhoun) Gilliam; son, Jamey Edward Calhoun; granddaughter, Katie Marie Johnson (Brock Bowman); aunts, Betty Williams, Shelby McConnell, and Ruby Nelms; cousins, Dwight Lane, Pam Hager, Lynn Cassell, and Sandra Pendleton; his fur baby “Little Buddy” Rolo; and a host of many other family members, coworkers and friends.  

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Mike Owens officiating. Sheila Caywood and Melissa Hall will provide the music. 

Military Graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN, Post #265, Gate City, VA, and members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Pendleton Cemetery in Manville, VA, 1115 Sorrel Creek Lane, Gate City, VA. 

Brock Bowman, Mark Collier, Ed Smith, Tommy Haynes, Raymond Tankersley, and Mark Moody will serve as pallbearers. Vernon Smith, Charlie Gladson, Ricky Caywood, Darrell Booher, Michael Mendenhall, Mack Summey, and Wayne Samples will serve as honorary pallbearers. 

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center as well as the staff of Franklin Woods Community Hospital for their love and care for Larry.
