Mr. Worley Lee Lane, 91, passed away, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his residence in Ft. Blackmore, VA where he lived all his life.
He was born in Scott County, VA on September 10, 1921 to the late Thomas Ray and Mary Delilah Gillenwater Lane.
Worley was retired from Looney Chevrolet in Kingsport, TN. He never met a stranger. He loved the Lord and going with his daughter to hear her sing.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Nina Faye Kendrick Lane; brothers, Larence Lane, Walter Lane, Lloyd Lane, and Corbet Lane; sisters, Flara Gillenwater, Venus Lane, Monnie Gillenwater, Nora Peters, Maxie McConnell, and Annelee Quillen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Danny L. Lane, Fall Branch, TN, Kathy and Fred Davidson, Gate City, VA, and Peggy and Ronnie Lawson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Anna and Daniel Dean, Gate City, VA, Daniel Lane, Church Hill, TN, David and Kristen Lane, Kingsport, TN, and Dustin Davidson, Gate City, VA; great grandchildren, Madison Dean, Morgan Dean, Sydney Lane, Danielle Lane, Katelyn Lane, David Lane, Jr., Ashlyn Lane, And Gracie Lee Lane; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his granddaughter, Anna and Daniel Dean's residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. William Jasper Kendrick, Jr. and Rev. Walker Darnell officiating. Pine Grove Harmony will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at the Lane Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, Va. Dustin Davidson, Daniel Dean, Daniel Lane, Everett Lee Lane, Ronnie G. Lane, and Danny Martin Gillenwater will serve as pallbearers. Herm Dean, Fred Carico, Fred Kendrick, Jim Elliott, and Dr. Todd Cassell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to thank Mary (Sis) Caradi for calling Dad often; Juanita Egan and Shirley Butler for their visits with Dad on Sundays, and to Lora Summey, Dad's housekeeper. Thanks to Dr. Todd Cassell for all he did for our Dad during his illness and to the nurses at Clinch River Health Clinic.
