Mrs. Minnie Estelle Spivey Lane, 96, Gate City, VA passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, October 11, 2013 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Lane was born in Scott County, VA on June 8, 1917 to the late W.B and Clara Templeton Spivey. She was of the Christian faith and a great prayer warrior. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Dee Lane; son-in-law, Darvin Bray; sisters, Nell Tipton, Emma Williams, and Janette Carter; and brothers, Kelly, Dewey, Eugene, Sylvester, Jim, John, Orban, and Cecil Spivey preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Annabel Bray and husband, Darryl Dingus, Gate City, VA; son, Morgan Lane and wife, Janice, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Tim Bray and wife, Barbara, Eric Lane and wife, Misty, Stephanie Lane-Hicks and husband, Robert, David Lane, and Heather Ceurvorst and husband, Gerry; great grandchildren, John Bray, Erica and Evan Lane, Bailey, Gabriel, and Colin Ceurvorst; sisters-in-law, Ama Lee Spivey, Margaret Spivey, and Doris Spivey; along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loving little granddog Piper and grandcat, Simba.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Bob Lane officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at10:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Bray Family Cemetery, Daniel Boone community of Scott County,VA.. Eric Lane, Marvin Tipton, Kenny Wayne Tipton, Bob Spivey, John Bray, and Wayne Spivey will serve as pallbearers. Tim Bray and David Lane will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
