Emmett Isaac "Cub" Lane – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Mr. Emmett Isaac Lane, 83, Gate City, VA passed away, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Lane was born in Scott County, VA on July 8, 1927. He was a son of the late Johnny Lloyd and Margaret Baldwin Lane.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bertie McCracken and Gladys Darnell, and his brother, George Lane.
He is survived by his sisters, Faye Darnell and husband, Charles (Buck), Ft. Blackmore, VA, Millie Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Clara McConnell and husband, Byard, Blountville, TN, and Annie Gibson and husband, Kyle, Gate City, VA; his special niece and caregiver, Sandy (Barnie) Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA; other special nieces, Regina (Bright Eyes) Estepp, Linda (Cat) Akers, Rita (Dumpy) Woods, Melinda (Boo Boo) Gibson, all of Ft. Blackmore, VA, along with several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister, Faye Darnell. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Danny Darnell and the Rev. Terry Rhoton.officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the Hill Station Cemetery in the Hill Station community of Scott County, VA. Danny Darnell, William Estepp, David Estepp, Dan Darnell, Carl Harris, and Allen Lane will serve as pallbeares.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
